INSPECTING CAROL

November 20 - December 13, 2009

by Daniel Sullivan and the Seattle Repertory Theatre
Directed by Dawn Youngs

A small professional theater company prepares for their annual cash-cow production of "A Christmas Carol." Things begin to look as bleak as Dickens's London as soon as the curtain opens. The production's four-day rehearsal schedule seems woefully inadequate, and the company accountant has just informed the director that low ticket sales have left them on the verge of bankruptcy. Filled with hilarious sequences of physical comedy, Inspecting Carol is an immensely entertaining treat that will kick off your holiday season in style.

The cast features Jonna Beck as MJ, a founding member of the theatre company. Dorothy is played by Judith Laird, artistic director of the Players, seen onstage most recently in Rose’s Dilemma and Blithe Spirit. Melinda Ellisor (Marvin’s Room and Man of La Mancha) returns to the stage as Zorah, the founding director of The Soapbox Playhouse. Wayne is played by Daniel Bisett , new to the Players; he recently starred in The Gondoliers, The Full Monty and The Titanic, most notably performing at His Majesty’s Theatre while living in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Reed Neal (Marvin’s Room and Stop the World) returns to the Wimberley stage as Bart, and Sam Ellisor plays Luther (Tiny Tim), the other youth. Rhonda Leal plays K.
Evin Emory; most recently she appeared in The Portal of Initiation in Austin. Kate Conroy, playing Betty, is returning to the Wimberley Players’ stage after a 20-year hiatus. She just finished a run of Over the River and Through the Woods at the Baker Theater in Lockhart. Robert FitzGerald (Larry), has worked in theater as an actor, director, stage manager, set carpenter, crew, teacher, and pianist with companies from Wichita, Kansas to Port Townsend, Washington, to Pasadena, California.

Other cast members include Bruce Drobeck as Phil, Carlton Fairley as Walter, and Guy Ben-Moshe as Sidney.

Inspecting Carol runs from Friday, November 20 to Sunday, December 13. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8:00 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:30 pm. Tickets are $18 except for opening night, which is preceded by a reception at 7:00 pm ($25). They may be purchased online or through the box office, (512) 847-0575.
