The Wimberley Players Present Classical Guitarist Charles Cavanaugh in Concert, March 15, 2023

The Wimberley Players are pleased to present classical guitarist, Charles Cavanaugh, to lead off as the first performer for our 2023 season concerts. Our intimate 108-seat theatre setting is ideally suited for solo and duet musical performances. Cavanaugh will be performing original compositions and telling the stories that inspired him.
Charles Cavanaugh, who was born in Houston, Texas, studied classical guitar and composition at The University of North Texas and The Basel Academy of Music Switzerland. As a student in 1980, he won the Texas UIL classical guitar competition and in 1981 participated in the Segovia guitar competition in England. He graduated with a computer science degree from University of Texas, Dallas and went on to work for 25 years in the industry in the U.S., Switzerland, and Sweden. He has been performing professionally since 1977 when he was an Artist in Residence at the Austin Symphony Square until 1978. He has made his home in Wimberley, Texas since 2013.
Cavanaugh has produced two CDs entitled "Waves" in Switzerland and "Shimmering Light" at Bluerock studios in Wimberley. His music is inspired by jazz, classical, and folk influences.
