Change of Season - COVID-19

Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19 and restrictions on gatherings, The Wimberley Players staff and Board of Directors have made several changes to our 2020 season. The health and safety of our patrons and volunteers is of the upmost importance to us. We understand changes to an established season are never easy, but we feel the decisions we have made are the safest decisions possible and in the best interest of our patrons. These changes will affect the following shows: Sleuth, Legally Blonde, and The Cover of Life.

Season Changes

Sleuth has been POSTPONED. This show will no longer run in April. Instead, we have made the difficult decision to pull The Cover of Life from this season and replace it with Sleuth, opening September 18th. Sleuth will run for three weekends with performances Thursdays - Sundays. In addition, Legally Blonde will be pushed back three weeks and will open on July 31st. Please see the new run dates below:

Legally Blonde - July 31st - August 23rd. Performances Fridays - Sundays with two additional Thursday performances on August 13th and 20th

Sleuth - September 18th - October 4th. Performances Thursdays - Sundays

The Box Office will be in touch with everyone who has purchased tickets to any of these shows next week. We will adjust your ticket dates for Sleuth and Legally Blonde and offer alternative solutions for those who purchased tickets to The Cover of Life. We know this is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone and our staff will do everything we can to make sure each customer is comfortable and satisfied with their tickets. The decision to pull a show from the season is not one we take lightly. However, safety is our number one priority. After examining all of our options, we feel that this is the safest and most responsible decision.

How you can help

While this situation will not force The Wimberley Players to permanently close our doors, we will take a considerable financial hit. Even during a temporary closure the Players incur expenses such as staff salaries, utilities, and insurance. Our ticket sales are our largest form of income, and losing a show will make things more difficult for us. If you are able to help us during this time - financially or otherwise - we truly thank you. Below is a list of ways you can help The Wimberley Players:

  1. Donate your tickets for The Cover of Life. The Wimberley Players are more than happy to provide a charitable contribution letter to those who choose to donate the cost of their tickets to our cancelled show rather than taking a refund.

  2. Buy additional tickets to a show later in the year. Tickets to a show at The Wimberley Playhouse make excellent gifts! After times of crisis, we often turn to the arts to find joy. We hope you will come and find some of that joy in our theatre.

  3. Purchase a gift certificate. Not sure what show you or your friends may want to see? Purchase a gift certificate! You can purchase these for any amount and they may be used at any time. Gift certificates can be purchased here.

  4. Write a review. Word of mouth is powerful for us! Find us on Facebook, Tripadvisor, Yelp, or Google Reviews and leave a few kind words about your experience with us.

  5. Become a member. Did you know you can become a member at any time? Your membership runs for 12 months and your name will be listed in our Playbill. Members are able to vote on important matters at our annual meeting in January.

  6. Donate. If you are able, a monetary donation of any amount is greatly appreciated at this time. You can donate here.

While none of these decisions were easy ones, we truly feel they are the right ones. We thank you for your support and hope you will continue to support us in the future. If you have any questions, please reach out to Executive Manager Simone Corprew by email at manager@wimberleyplayers.org. Our box office is currently only manned a few hours a week as our staff is trying to practice social distancing. If you have purchased tickets to Sleuth, Legally Blonde, or The Cover of Life, please expect to hear from our box office staff beginning next week.

Thank you,

The Wimberley Players
