"The Wimberley Players are deeply saddened and angered by the continuing injustices in our country and want to be clear that we stand with those who are fighting to dismantle racist and oppressive systems.
We recognize that as a theatre company it is our job to tell all stories, not just the stories of those who look like us. We admit that we have not done enough to ensure diversity within our organization or with the stories we have presented. We also acknowledge it is not enough to be passively supportive. The WImberley Players are making changes that will result in more inclusivity by diversifying membership in our committees, casting, direction and play selections. We are working on creating an action plan for our organization which will outline how we will follow through on our commitment.
We also invite our community of theatre goers to support this effort and to offer their thoughts and ideas
We welcome actors, designers, directors, and theatre professionals of all backgrounds and ethnicities to join us when the curtain rises again. Until then, we will be listening, learning and working to make changes."
