In this six-week class with Trish Rigdon, Managing Artistic Director of The Wimberley Players, actors will learn to choose, analyze, and block monologues for auditions based on The Monologue Audition: A Practical Guide for Actors by Karen Kohlhaas. Each actor will choose two monologues from any play to work on in class, in preparation for future auditions.


LIMITED TO 10 STUDENTS.

$150 per person includes:

  • 18 hours of class,

  • a copy of The Monologue Audition: A Practical Guide for Actors by Karen Kohlhaas,

  • One 2-hour private session with Trish Rigdon outside of class (by appointment),

  • Option to participate in one-time public performance for an invited guest audience (date to be determined).

In this six-week workshop with Trish Rigdon, Managing Artistic Director of the Wimberley Players, actors will learn to analyze, speak, and perform Shakespeare’s verse and prose based on her work with Sir Peter Hall, founder of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Each actor will choose two monologues from any of Shakespeare’s plays to work on in class in preparation for future auditions and performances. Class meets on Mondays, 7-10 pm, May 2 - June 13 (no class Memorial Day, Monday, May 30) at the Wimberley Playhouse, 450 Old Kyle Road, five blocks east of Wimberley Town Square.

  • Digital copy of all class handouts and outlines

  • One two-hour private session with Trish Rigdon outside of class (by appointment),

  • Option to participate in one-time public performance for an invited guest audience (date to be determined).




About the Instructor

Trish Rigdon joined the Wimberley Players in 2021 after directing Dracula: The Radio Play, War of the Worlds: The Panic Broadcast, and It Had to Be You. She also directed the recent Players production of Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol. Her experience as a Producer, Director, Lighting Designer, Costume Designer, Professor, and Educational Administrator spans 25 years. Other theatre credits include productions seen on the West End, London, National US tours, UK tours, and US regional theatres. Previous theatre and academic positions include four seasons as Associate Director, Associate Producer, and Costume Designer for the Peter Hall Company in the UK, Director of Theatre for Rice University, Executive Director of Houston Cinema Arts Society, and Institutional Program Chair of Media Arts at The Art Institute of Houston. Rigdon holds a BA in Fine Arts from University of Saint Thomas and an MFA in Theatre from University of Houston. She is also a Costume Design member of USA829.
